Dundee Elementary Library | Omaha, NE
Over the course of 2008, I designed and implemented a series of murals within the Dundee Elementary School’s cavernous library. Beginning as a tree-based landscapes reflecting seasons and directional locations, they quickly grew in response to the input of students, librarians, and my own relationship reading to my children. The result was hundreds of hidden references to specific characters, stories and novels beloved by the community that uses and lives with the library. An annotated primer explaining the references was created to aid the librarians. A visit in 2018 revealed that the murals had been actively used to guide and engage readers of every grade throughout their education in the school.
